What is Therapy?

Counselling is a talking therapy which will be tailored to you and your experiences. Therapy gives you the time and space to talk, cry or shout. Whether this is in person or online, it is an opportunity to look at your problems from a different perspective with someone who will respect you and your boundaries without judging you to help you find your own answers to problems.

I use the psychodynamic model which involves the interpretation of mental and emotional processes rather than focusing on behaviour. My aim is to help clients find patterns in their emotions, thoughts and beliefs in order to gain insight into their current self. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on building the clients internal resources to be able to deal with problems going forward. The way I work differs from client to client, responding to the different needs presented by each client.

Your initial consultation gives us both an opportunity to ensure that we are a good match for working together.  We will also discuss what your expectations of counselling are and what you hope to achieve.  Further sessions can then be scheduled at your earliest covenience.
